Questions & Answers

Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before taking the first step. If something isn't covered here, just get in touch — there's no such thing as a silly question.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are £45 for 50 minutes. There's also the option of a 30-minute initial consultation at £25 — in this we discuss what's bringing you to therapy and come up with a plan of how the sessions will work for you. A block of 5 sessions is available at £210, saving £15 overall.

How many sessions will I have?

That's entirely up to you. Sometimes you just need a couple of sessions to talk through a specific issue. Other times it may be a longer term need — whatever feels right for you is how we will work.

What if I don't feel like it's helping?

I want to encourage my clients to say when they don't feel like the sessions are benefitting them. I hold regular reviews where we look at the progress so far and see if there is any movement in how you're feeling. If not, we'll change things up. If it ends up being that you don't want to continue, that's absolutely fine too.

I work different shifts — is this going to be a problem?

Absolutely not. We can work flexibly together, finding a time that suits you each week.

Could I come fortnightly rather than weekly?

Yes. Sometimes your schedule doesn't work for a weekly session, or perhaps having two weeks to process things is what works best for you. We'll find a rhythm that suits you.

Surely I can just use ChatGPT for advice?

There is a misconception that counselling is about receiving advice. Counselling is a way for you to explore what is happening for you and how best to navigate it — together we will work this out. I will get to know you, I will help you find things from within yourself — new ways of thinking, strengths and resources you may have missed. I will gently challenge your processes to help you become "unstuck." ChatGPT simply cannot work in the same way as human connection can.
